I have this fantasy...
of owning a white couch...
you see, i love white...
something about it...
makes me happy....
i often see pictures of homes with white couches...
but then i walk into my living room...
and occasionally see this....
and sometimes this....
(look closely at the pen written all over her right leg)
and i know that I was smart to buy my dark, dark brown couch...
so for now...
in lieu of a white couch...
i'll improvise...
some of you may remember hearing about the sewing session of 2009...
it's called that because i thought i was having a big foray into sewing...
the way i do everything,
i dove in with 2 feet....
bought the sewing machine...
the whole 9 yards...
and sewed for 3 days straight...
about 6-8 hours a day...
my gracious mother-in-law gave me guidance, instruction...
and most of all encouragement...
i drew some crazy sketches and began to sew...
the result was a set of the most complicated pillows ever...
(at least for a beginner seamstress :)
and the result was not particularly what i had envisioned...
not terrible, just not what i really wanted...
but, i was over sewing after 3 straight days...
so they were going to have to work for awhile...
and i packed up my sewing machine...
and there it sat...
Laughlin has mentioned a few times...
how much he loves his $300 pillows...
(the price including the new sewing machine i had to have)
fast forward...
it's been a year...
and I have a new craft room..
plenty of space...
to sew :)
plus...
the pillows...
they didn't hold up so well...
so i went looking for new fabric....
and i kept thinking about my white couch...
so i got the fabric...
and got busy...
unfortunately (for me) i got really excited about the project...
and did it all again in two days...
about 3 hours were spent just trying to remember how to work the machine...
and unravel a thread jam...
but i really do love the result...
(cute and ruffel-ey)
(an embroidered W)
now Laughlin can't believe that I sewed two huge WHITE pillows...
so i cut him some slack and sewed the little ones green...
(with white pleats..)
(at the time of this pic, the other pillows had been
hijacked by 2 rug-rats for fort building purposes...
in the interest of taking a picture without being disturbed...
they got to keep them.:)
it's been 4 days...
and they are still white...
and i still love them :)

Shannon, those are beautiful. There's something about being able to say you made them that gives a sweet satisfaction, too. Best thing about this post though is that sweet pic of Micah - loved that!
